Songs Recorded by Joan Baez
By Ed Hilton

Ed Hilton

Joan Baez has written some great songs. Many of the songs she recorded were written by others and/or are traditional (songs so old the writer is unknown).  Come lead a song, request a song or just listen. If she recorded it, it's grist for the mill.  We'll go around the circle taking turns.

As a child, Ed Hilton was exposed to the rich variety of folk music from previous generations. As a teenager during the Viet Nam war, he listened to the music of Joan Baez and others. He also listened to what they had to say on a variety of topics including war, peace, love and human rights. He especially listened to what Baez was singing and saying.  Ed is the President of the San Francisco Folk Music Club, the organization presenting the El Cerrito Free Folk Festival.

The San Francisco Folk Music Club is a large musical community that sponsors many events. Musical genres may be folk, rock, swing, blues, bluegrass, etc. Events include the San Francisco Free Folk Festival, three summer camp outs, and coming up for five days at New Year's, Camp New Harmony.  There are musical jams in the Haight/Ashbury area of San Francisco every other Friday night. Come join us!  Information is available at this event or at sffmc.org.
