Blair Kilpatrick, accordionist with Sauce Piquante, will talk about the unexpected midlife journey that inspired her new book Accordion Dreams: A Journey into Cajun and Creole Music (University Press of Mississippi, January 2009). Blair's memoir is the story of her life-changing passion for Louisiana French music — and her unlikely obsession with the Cajun accordion.

The workshop will provide an introduction to Cajun-Creole music, including a profile of the Bay Area's thriving Louisiana French music community, the largest outside the Gulf Coast. Music will be provided by the Sauce Piquante Duo (Blair and her fiddler-husband Steve Tabak.)
