All are welcome! Susan will lead participants in acappella singing of many of the songs that WWI service members sang, generally selected from songbooks issued to the troops at the time. There will be a large handout with words for participants. Workshop attendees may also lead a song or sing a parody if they know one. This workshop is not appropriate for very young children.

Susan’s interest in WWI is connected with her grandfather, a Canadian WWI veteran who died in 1994. Additionally, she is fond of songs that were popular between 1850 and 1940, and old folk music. She has led singalongs at national and local WWI events, and is currently vice president of The Western Front Association. She is in a small labor band and has sung labor songs at various union meetings. Also, she was formerly a preschool music teacher when she lived in Germany, and hosted a monthly children's radio program on Armed Forces Network in Frankfurt, FRG
