Harmonica
By Winslow Yerxa

If you have questions about the harmonica, show up at Winslow’s harmonica workshop. Maybe you already play but need some help. Maybe you just think it might be cool to try out, but don't know how to get started. That's fine, come on in. Winslow will be there to answer your questions and help you get where you want to go with the harmonica. There will be individual advice, group discussions, technique clinics, and discussions of harmonica lore and even simple repairs as the occasion calls for.

If you bring a harmonica, it would be helpful (but not required) if it’s in the key of C (there will be the letter “C” stamped somewhere on it). Type of harmonica (diatonic, chromatic, tremolo, etc.) doesn’t matter.

Winslow Yerxa is the author of the popular book Harmonica For Dummies and is active locally with the San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers in addition to playing jazz, blues, and traditional music. He plays most types of harmonica, including diatonic, tremolo, chromatic, and even bass harmonica. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of harmonica players, history, styles, playing techniques, and instrument construction. No matter where you want to go with a harmonica, Winslow can guide you in the right direction.
